ARBUTUS PROVIDES A CERTIFIED LAB TESTING SERVICES (MRO ON SITE) IN KAMLOOPS, B.C.
Drug and alcohol testing services include point-of-care urine drug screens (Quick Test); lab-based urine drug screens (Confirmation of presumptive positives) lab-based oral fluid drug screens and Alcohol tests through urine or breath alcohol tests.
With all point-of-care tests, results are available within five minutes after collection of the sample. Lab-based testing, results are available within 2 days.
Many of our clients are choosing to implement a program that includes point-of-care testing (Quick Test) and Breath Alcohol, as it keeps to a minimum the number of employees who are off the job while waiting for a lab-based drug screen result.
All samples that are sent to the lab will be reviewed by a Certified Medical Review Officer, Dr, Rob Baker that we have on site, which prevents any chance of a false positive due to such factors as a legitimate prescription medication.
All urine samples are tested at an accredited forensic laboratory. All samples that screen positive are confirmed through Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS).
Customized testing for non-traditional substance use
Arbutus has access to and utilizes the services of Canada’s most comprehensive testing devices to ensure our monitoring services screen for non-traditional substances. If an employer suspects the employee/professional is using prescription or other substances not normally screened in monitoring programs, Arbutus will endeavor to develop an appropriate response.
Arbutus also offers Oral fluid testing for acute marijuana use when requested and/or deemed necessary.

Up to 24 truly random chain of custody urine drug screens for drugs and alcohol metabolite per 12-month period with additional testing as required, and BC Pharmanet review every 3 months or more frequently as required. Monthly or quarterly reporting to employer/agency if client compliant with the Agreement and immediate reporting if in non-compliance.
$325 plus $175 for biological testing: Total Cost $500
MEDICAL MONITORING WITH SOBERLINK DEVICE
SoberLink breath alcohol device with an average of 3 breath samples daily for the duration of the Recovery Management Agreement. Purchase of Soberlink device is not included.

Using a hand-held device, employees/professionals can when requested provide breath samples that are relayed via smartphones to our software that instantaneously analyzes the sample for alcohol. This service provides accurate and importantly, a private means for professionals to adhere to the monitoring requirements without having to attend screening appointments. Organizational Development Services
Arbutus Work Solutions recognizes that the safest workplace is a workplace where substance use and misuse is not a factor. Often employers have a substance use policy that states that any drug and alcohol use is strictly forbidden in the workplace and licensing boards and associations demand their professionals to be fit and well to operate machinery or work with people. It is an expectation for any safety sensitive position. The challenge for employers and licensing bodies is to create and promote substance use prevention policies and procedures across their company. Organizational and Workplace Intervention Services Supporting Change Management Efforts
Often a workplace can become a hotbed of unhealthy behaviors that involve substance misuse. When a culture of marijuana or alcohol use in the workplace becomes the norm, many employers struggle to find an intervention approach that is non-punitive and effective. Supervisors Training and Employee Education
Supervisors’ Intervention Training is an exam-based course intended to improve the supervisor(s) ability to recognize substance abuse in the workplace. Attendees will also gain an understanding of employee(s) who may be troubled by substance abuse and learn how to approach them in a legally defensible manner. Learn how to perform point-of-care testing, lab testing and breath alcohol.
Employee orientation introduces employees to the Substance Abuse Prevention Policy and helps gain their support for the program.
