Reliable, Precise Drug and Alcohol Testing & Monitoring Services Since 2019

Substance abuse in the workplace is a serious issue that can lead to accidents, decreased productivity, and higher rates of absenteeism. This is especially true in industries where employees operate heavy machinery or work in potentially dangerous environments. Testing and monitoring personnel for drug and alcohol abuse is also relevant for any business working with the general public, such as hospitals, restaurants and schools. In all sectors, ensuring that workers are free from the impairing effects of drugs and alcohol is not just good practice -it’s a critical part of maintaining day-to-day operations with a drug-free workforce.

What Kind Of Tests Are Offered?

To meet the diverse needs of industries in BC, Arbutus offers various testing methods, each with unique advantages depending on the specific needs of your business. Let’s take a closer look at the most common tests used by employers today:

Urine Drug Testing
Urine drug testing is the most common method of detecting drug use in the workplace. It is widely used in pre-employment screening, random drug testing, and post-accident testing because it is highly effective at identifying recent drug use. Urine testing can detect a wide range of substances, including marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, and more.

For businesses across Canada, urinalysis provides a quick and reliable way to screen employees for drugs and ensure compliance with workplace policies. Because urine drug tests can detect drugs within a few days of use, it is ideal for identifying recent substance use that could impact an employee’s job performance.

Saliva Drug Testing
Saliva drug testing is another popular option for employers looking for a non-invasive and quick method to detect recent drug use. Saliva tests can identify substances used within a shorter window, hours to days.

Blood Alcohol and Drug Testing
PEth Testing- Blood Spot Testing – testing alcohol levels through the blood.

Hair Drug Testing
Hair drug testing offers a unique advantage over other methods by providing a longer detection window. Unlike urine or saliva tests., hair follicle drug tests can go back 3-6 months

Point of Care Testing (POCT)
Arbutus Work Solutions offers Point-of-care testing for fast, reliable drug and alcohol screening directly at your workplace. This method allows immediate results, minimizing downtime and helping you make quick decisions regarding workplace safety. POCT is ideal for post-incident testing, random checks, or pre-employment screenings where timely results are crucial.

Oral Fluid Quick Testing
We offer fast and reliable oral fluid testing for drug and alcohol detection. This non-invasive method provides accurate results and is ideal for post-incident testing, reasonable suspicion, and routine workplace screenings. With rapid detection of recent drug or alcohol use, oral fluid testing ensures your workplace remains compliant, safe and drug free.

Breath Alcohol Testing (Breathalyzer)
Arbutus Work Solutions offers professional breath alcohol testing to quickly and accurately detect alcohol levels in employees. This non-invasive testing method is ideal for ensuring compliance in safety-sensitive roles, post-incident situations, and routine workplace screenings. With immediate results, breath alcohol testing helps maintain a safe and alcohol-free work environment.
